Take everything you expect from a traditional lockback folder. Then pile on the features—can opener, bottle opener, bit driver (with six screw bit tips), even a carabiner clip—but do it so the extra versatility isn’t noticed until it’s needed. What you get is a product engineers like to call "feature dense," which means the k502x and k503x provide maximum usefulness with minimum bulk.

Bit Driver. Carry six screwdrivers in the space of two. Versatile bit drivers come with double-ended bits that quickly change to fit the demands of the day’s work. Included are Phillips #1 and 2, 1/8" 3/16" and 1/4" width flathead, and #15 Torx. Additional accessory bits are available.

Carabiner. Our patent-pending carabiner stays hidden until you need it, nesting with other components to save space. Then a simple thumb action is all that is required to hang your Leatherman knife on a backpack, rope or belt loop. Plus, it locks into place so attachment is easy.

Bottle Opener. The carabiner is also designed to be the best bottle cap lifter we’ve ever offered. And since it easily rotates or slides out with one hand, you won’t have to wait long to enjoy your reward for a day’s work well done.

Back to basics…Very cool basics. Today’s outdoor enthusiasts want to keep weight and volume to a minimum without sacrificing quality and true functionality. While multi-tools have multiple options, they’re often heavier with more features than are used on a regular basis. Conversely, pocket knives are light and streamlined, but render themselves useless when necessary adjustments call for a tool. Enter the new Skeletool platform: Minimal weight, compact size and endless capabilities.

When someone’s life is in danger, there is often not enough time to fumble around trying to open a Swiss Army® or “tool” type knife and then saw frantically in a desperate bid to free them. Those knives have blades that are just too short, narrow and dull to immediately sever thick, tough, or fibrous material. When seconds count, the Land & Sea/Rescue™ Knife is more than equal to the challenge. In an emergency, it can be opened in the blink of an eye, and the innovative rocker lock allows worry-free deployment when a life is on the line. Once locked open, the blade can cut with the fury of a chainsaw with its wide, flat ground surface and serrated edge.

The unique “sheep’s foot” style VG-1 Stainless blade is ideal for rescue situations because it is less likely to injure accident victims when cutting away seat belts or clothing. And the tough, Zytel® handle is contoured and deeply checkered for a solid, non-slip grip. The Land & Sea/Rescue™ Knife sports a small, but powerful steel pocket clip, to keep the blade within easy reach at all times.

Specifications:
Blade: 4″
Steel: VG-1 Stainless
Handle: 5 1/16″, Zytel handle
Overall: 9 1/16″
Thick: 1/8″
Weight: 3.5oz.
Features a steel pocket clip

byrdRench ~ BY15PS – New!

As multitools go the byrdRench doesn’t resemble any other pocket tool on the market. Unlike standard multitool fare it has a full-sized knife blade that opens/closes one handed and locks open like a real pocketknife. It also comes with a pocket clip and nylon sheath so if you’re a hang-it-on-a-belt-loop person or a clip-in-my-pocket-person, you’re covered. The tool’s housing is two stainless halves that join creating slip joint pliers (with a large or small bite) on one end and an adjustable 9/16” crescent wrench on the opposite end. Both work comfortably in the hand with contoured edges so there are no pinched fingers. Separate the two halves and tucked inside is a set of four screwdriver bits including: A #2 and #3 Phillips-head as well as a #1 and #2 flat-head. The bit housing accepts any standard sized bit including Allen and Torx® wrenches to customize your tool arsenal. A rough file combination hole-starter slide into a spring set in the housing above the bits. A pivot holds the tool’s two halves together. When rotated, the pieces extend and lock into a full-length easy to grip and torque magnetized screwdriver or crescent wrench. Releasing the pivot separates the screwdriver and knife portion of the tool from the crescent wrench. This allows you to use the crescent wrench and the screwdriver/knife independently and/or simultaneously. High performance 8Cr13Mov is the blade’s steel and it comes in a plain cutting edge.

PRESS RELEASE

C79 Assist I and Assist II ™ CLIPIT™
By Spyderco®

Spyderco named this knife after its principal job function- to Assist. The Assist is a lightweight folder made for emergency fire/rescue professionals and the well-equipped citizen, all who rely on knives to be straightforward in use and perform flawlessly. The Assist’s blade is high-carbon VG-10 stainless steel and loaded with teeth. Eighty-percent of the 3-3/8” (86mm) cutting edge is serrated with the last inch at the tip PlainEdged. Above the one-hand-open hole sits a feature called a Cobra Hood. This metal cap guides the thumb over the hole for quick opening then doubles as a textured leveraging platform for your thumb while you are cutting. A wavy pattern cut out of the top of the blade and again along the handle is for controlled rope cutting. By placing a rope in the groove (between the partially open blade and the handle) you can simply squeeze the blade shut, slicing rope in a controlled manner without fully exposing the cutting edge. The handle is lightweight black fiberglass reinforced nylon (FRN) with a survival whistle built into the butt end that is shrill and high-pitched enough to be heard great distances. A reinforced wire pocket clip screws through the handle onto either side for left or right-handed use. An Assist II (C79PS) is also available with a retractable carbide-tip glass breaker in the handle and snub-nosed blade. The breaker is exposed when the closed knife is squeezed and retracts when pressure is released, keeping it out of the way till needed. Both versions are 8-3/8” (213mm) long when fully open and weigh 3.9 oz (111g).

MSRP: Assist C79PSBK2 (no carbide tip) runs $82.95 and the Assist C79PSBK (carbide tip) retails for $89.95.
